How were you introduced to Prime Practice?
My then practice manager told me there was a Prime Practice course about selling your practice or building a passive income practice. My goal was to create a happy place to work that was also a passive income practice. No matter how hard I tried, I could not make this happen. I was dejected & frustrated … The dentists working for me seemed to be bumbling along & I felt like I was doing all the heavy lifting. In fact, I was doing all the heavy lifting. I knew if you took me out of the practice, the practice would make no money. Going on this course with Phillip & Anita felt a bit like the last chance saloon for me
What has changed since joining the Practice Management Program?
After our first course, I signed up for the Prime Practice Management Program & now having come out the other end of Prime everything has changed … I have embraced Prime Practice's suggestions - some things we adopted whole-heartedly and others we decided weren’t for us. I have let some team members go and as a result have created the best team I have ever had! Most of our successes are due to using Prime systems. The practice is running more smoothly and the team understands why I enrolled us into the Practice Management Program.. Prime has provided us with the skills so that we give great service, have nice days that are controlled, resulting in great relationship with patients and each other as a team.
What is the biggest thing that changed?
Daily huddles and pre-blocks have had a profound impact on the enjoyment of my job. I actually enjoy being a dentist now, which I never expected.
How have you found the coaching experience?
My coach has been fantastic! I do have a cynical gene buried deep in my DNA, and initially I had resistance to everything: “oh no I can’t do this” and “my team won’t want to do that” or “I could never do that”, “I don’t want to do that” and couldn’t even stand the word huddle… But I thought crikey, I’m investing this money I should at least try and adopt some of these ideas, and get the team to come to the courses…. I told Patric it was like steering a super tanker into the port. When we started off we were over the horizon and we didn’t know where the port was and we didn’t know how to go in the right direction. Slowly but surely, after getting my team on board ,we were all working like a really cohesive unit and now we are just about to dock. My business is now a happy business.
Have these changes affected your life outside of work?
Yes! I find myself doing and using all of the soft skills I have learnt at Prime and using them in all different situations such as EIC feedback and Primespeak with my kids and partner. I can leave work for a day or a month and know it is in safe hands, which I couldn’t really do before.
